"Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride." Gordon B. Hinckley

Prayers

There is not much to say here except I sure love to watch my family kneel for prayer every night it is the sweetest sight ever.

Frozen

We hardly ever go to movies, maybe once a year on Thanksgiving or Christmas break and this year we decided to go see the movie Frozen. The kids loved it, what a wonderful show, I even loved it. The kids were so good to sit through the whole show. My pictures are blurry but at least I have something to show for our once a year movie day :)

Decorating the Christmas Tree

The kids love to get the tree out and decorate it! Our tree is special, all the ornaments that the kids have been given all these years and all the ornaments they have made me from school go on our tree. There is a lot of love in our tree and a lot of memories. We love to look through all the ornaments and remember whose was whose and why they got it or why they gave it to me. I let the kids do all the decorating and the tree is sometimes very lopsided, but it is exactly how they like it. I love to just sit back and watch Raegan play with the ornaments and Jaxon race his car ornaments or tractor ornaments around the house, it is all just so fun for me and for the kids. Josh is always so nice to get the tree out for us and help decorate, he loves to decorate the tree and I can tell that when he was a little boy he was probably very much like Jaxon is when he gets all his ornaments out. We usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving or really close to that day as we prepare for Christmas and this year we decorated on Thanksgiving day after we had dinner, such a fun day!

Christmas Ornaments

I have always had this tradition where I give the kids a new ornament to hang on the tree and the kids always look forward to this. This year Maddy got a football because she played flag football and was an amazing little girl football player and was super fun to watch, something we will never forget. Kynzee got a violin because she has always wanted to play the violin and finally got to start playing this year and is amazing at it, she makes beautiful music. Kenna got two because I couldn’t decide, the first one is the piano because she got to start piano lessons this year and loves playing the piano and a blue ballerina because her favorite color is blue and she is a beautiful ballerina. Jaxon got a turtle because he loves turtles especially green ones! Raegan got a little buggy car because we have a buggy car and it is one of her favorite things to play with. Josh got a corn on the cob because he planted his very first corn field and was so successful in growing yummy sweet corn.

Happy Thanksgiving

I made our own Thanksgiving dinner this year and we stayed home together as a family and it was a beautiful day. Our dinner turned out so yummy and the day was perfect. I have so much to be thankful for and I think about these things often but Thanksgiving just reminds me of how much I have to be thankful for. I am so thankful for the gospel in my life and for the way I was raised and for all that I was taught as a young girl so that my foundation of my testimony could be so strong. I am thankful for my Savior and for all he did for me so that I can live again and have an eternal family. I am thankful for the temple and for the peace that I feel when I go there, at times that peace has given me just what I have needed to keep going and has provided me with answers to so many prayers. I am thankful for my family and for all they do for me and for the way they love me unconditionally and for the way they love my children. I am thankful for my husband and for all he does for our family and for the way he never gives up on himself or us. I am thankful for my beautiful children and the sweet spirit they bring into my home. I am so thankful to be a Mom, it is all I have ever wanted and it is the most wonderful thing in the world. I am forever thankful for good friends who pick me up when I am down and help me along this rough rocky road of a life. I am thankful for this beautiful free land that I live in and for my home and the food that is always put on the table. I am thankful for my health and my strength that the Lord gives me daily to be able to care for my children and to keep going every day. I have much more to be thankful for but those are some of my greatest blessings. Happy Thanksgiving!
