I got a phone call from the school telling me that Maddy had hurt her arm from falling on the ice. I could hear Maddy crying in the background so I asked to talk to her. We talked about it and decided she only had forty five minutes left of school and she was tuff and she could stay until school got out. When I picked her up from school it was very obvious that she had been crying for a while and she was hurt. Her wrist and lower arm were swollen and it felt hard to me. I didn’t know if it was broke or not. She had piano lessons right after school and she really wanted to go so I let her go. Josh came home from working and took her to the Doctor and had it x-rayed because I just couldn’t make her go to basketball practice and dance and piano and not know for sure if we were doing more damage. The x-ray showed it was broke both bones in her lower forearm clear down almost to her wrist. The bones were broke right in half!! They put a temporary cast on and we had to wait a couple days for the swelling to go down and then they put a real cast on it. The Doctor said she can still play basketball, dance and play the piano and she should be just fine. He said this kind of break takes the longest to heal so it looks like she wont get the cast off for another 5 weeks. I feel like a bad mom for making her stay at school the rest of the day and for sending her to piano :( O well hopefully she is on her way to mending and hopefully we wont have anymore accidents on the ice at school. I am making her stay in from recess so we don’t have any more accidents out there at least.

Poor Girl! But what a trooper! And don't feel too bad, if it makes you feel better, my mom waited 3 days before taking me to the Dr. once when I was 6, and it turned out I had chipped a bone in my wrist!
Ouch! So glad to see she has a smile on her face.
It's a really hard thing to know how hurt our kids are somedays. So don't be too hard on yourself.
I had one child who would not cry at all when REALLY hurt. They were embarrassed and so ran away to their room so know one knew when they were truly hurt.
And then I had another child who.....well, let's just say was VERY big on the dramatics, if someone even looked at them the wrong way. lol.
Makes it SO hard for a mom to know for sure how serious is serious somedays.
P.S. Cute pink cast!
