"Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride." Gordon B. Hinckley

Idaho City 100 Motorbike Race

Josh and his friend Reid rode in the Idaho City 100 motorbike race last weekend and boy was it muddy and dirty. I am still cleaning up muddy shoes and motorbike gear. They both rode their very best and as Reid put it "This is the hardest thing I have ever done" I think they both felt that way for sure. It had been raining for days so the trail was very muddy and they kept getting stuck and Josh flipped over his handle bars, he also got a logging cable stuck in his tire and it took them 30 minutes to get it unstuck. Some of the ruts from the mud went up to their seat on their bike it was so bad. When Rachel and I finally got to see them at the fuel stop it was very obvious that these boys were worn out and they still had quite a ways to go. I could tell by the amount of mud on them that it was a hard ride. It was actually 120 miles altogether. I worried when I saw the life flight come in to get a rider because we didn't know who it was they were taking I just kept hoping that Josh and Reid would be okay, and they were. Josh came out of it with a sore shoulder and blisters where his socks and shin guards rubbed on him, and marks from his camel back where it rubbed on his neck, and of course multiple bruises but that's it thanks goodness. I was proud of them for giving it their best and having fun together even though it was so hard. Rachel and I had eight kids between the two of us and boy was it a day! It ended up being fun, we went and got ice cream, played at the school playground, rode a bus up the mountain to the grass track where we could watch them ride, the kids played all day and they were so good to each other. We got to swim at the hotel and go to dinner which is always nice. It was a nice weekend away form home and here are the pictures of the memories we made.

These were windmills on the way there. I loved them and the sky was beautiful!

Treyton and Kenna

Treyton was always right there when I pulled my camera out, he loved having his picture taken.

Maddy throwing rocks in the pond

The guys ride way up in the mountains so we really can't watch them ride except for one spot and then we get to see them at another spot in the middle of the race at the fuel stop. We had to walk back into a place to see them and we had quite the crew with us.

Maddy and Kynzee waiting for Daddy to come, Maddy held these bananas the whole time so when Daddy came in to fuel up and eat he could have a banana!
The kids keeping themselves entertained even if it was arguing with other boys (bigger boys) about who rides a motorbike better.
Kenna got herself in the mud!!
Kynzee loves playing with sticks, when we go to the mountains she always has a stick in her hand.
Maddy helped me keep Jaxon happy by pushing him in the stroller.
Finally here he comes. They were passed their time so they didn't get to stay long just a really quick drink and bite to eat and then they were off again.

I couldn't believe how muddy he was!!

And then they were leaving again.....
Kids waving goodbye

There he goes........
There was a grass track in the mountains that we could watch them ride a little bit. We had to ride a bus to that spot. It was an adventure with eight children. And the mosquitoes were eating us like crazy. We were relieved when we saw them come in again it meant they were still riding and safe.

The kids waited to see their Daddy's all day and they were so good!!

Coming to the finish line............all done............we were all so happy to be done with this long day!

Swimming at the hotel, this was the funnest part for the kids for sure. It was Jaxon's first time swimming and he loved the warm water in the hot tub.
She gave me this look all day long!!!!

What a fun adventurous weekend we had!!

That was quite the adventure! You got some awesome pictures as always! I'm glad that we were there together, I wouldn't have been able to handle it by myself.

Looked like a lot of fun and a lot of work. From the first photo of the race, it kinda seemed like Mr 117B was a tire ahead of the rest... Hmmmm???? Kids are getting big and still beautiful, and handsome Jaxon.

That was fun! It was just like I was there too. I can't believe how much MUD they were covered in. Yikes!

Your kids are so darn cute. Love the picture you took of Maddy helping you with Jaxon. She is such a big girl now. Pretty soon she will be a regular babysitter.

And that photo you took of the kids standing up against the bigger boys is hilarious!!! LOL!
